MTA

Some context, over the weekend I fell asleep outside at a festival while listening to The Drab Irish Band play the song MTA which might be better known by the Kingston Trio.  A few days later I had this dream.

I dreamt I was at work and I had clients to see but I needed to shower first.  My job was in a massive vacation complex that was a planned city with an amusement park, a variety of houses, and restaurants and was whole autonomous from the outside world. It might have been physically separated from other cities by a dome of some kind. The schedule was very chaotic and the whole time I was trying to get ready my boss was explaining all the time slots.  None of this made sense as we had a lot of new staff that couldn't be booked the way she had them. I grabbed all my gear and started walking from the showers to my job which was upstairs and across a walkway but I dropped some of my stuff and started sliding on a moveable walkway that shuttled me to a series of tunnels that also had movable walkways.  I couldn't get back through the door I had come through so I had to get on a monorail that operated in the tunnel that I think was only for staff. AT this point I knew I was going to be very late for work. The train would pass by windows so we could see the city outside.  Sometimes the train would run on an elevated track around the city.  the only way to get back to my stop was to ride the train all the way around the course back to my original starting point.  There didn't seem to be a way to communicate from outside the train so I couldn't tell my boss I was going to be late.  Time didn't seem to be moving consistently as we were on the train into the night and the train emerged on the elevated track just as the sun was rising over the water inside the city.  I don't think I could see outside the city so maybe the ocean was part of the vacation city grounds? At one point it felt like we were getting closer to our starting point but then the train never stopped to let anyone off or on again.  I realized that the time between the last two stops on the train at been over a month and I woke up in panic knowing I couldn't really leave the train.

I dreamt I worked in a cafeteria. I leaned under the counter to collect dropped change. As I stood up I got my head and knocked myself out. I woke up nearly an hour later and a coworker drove me to urgent care in his jimmy buffet themed classic car. Then I woke up.

I dreamt I helped a friend cut up a designer bag while we were in the store so she could have the zipper. 

I dreamt I made this pineapple dessert where you removed the core and filled the center with almonds and other ingredients.  Once you baked it, you could eat the pineapple by pulling off a segment at a time like monkey bread but because of the inside filling each section was a little a tiny pineapple upsidedown cake. 

I dreamt I was on break at the grocery store and the only thing we were allowed to eat was fried chicken.

I dreamt I was trying to get two bicycles out of my bedroom but I kept marking the walls. While I was cleaning I also found a cute elephant figurine in my room that was blue and gold. 

I dreamt I owned a light grey/silver suit with a white vest and blue tie. We were at a hotel with an indoor pool and a glass ceiling. 

Of course, I also dreamt I was in college again.

And I dreamt about my favorite television show Smallville.  Clark was trying to get high on drugs but the drug had kryptonite in it.  He collapsed at work, it was a park or a nature preserve. He wouldn't let anyone call 911 so the staff, including a friend of mine from grade school, got him into his truck so he could drive home.  I noticed that his boots were untied.  No one realized how badly Clark was shaking and that he couldn't drive so they just walked away and left him sick in his truck in the garage. 

I dreamt I was doing a dance routine, mostly tap, with Ray Charles.  We sang his music, mostly Busted over and over while dancing in the hallway at school.

I had a long dream about high school that combined elements of the school I work at now such as being in class as a student with my actual students from work.  I dreamt that I took my lunch bag to school but didn't pack a lunch so I planned to go home on my lunch break but instead  I left in 3rd period and skipped math. On my way home I couldn't go straight down the road because of a detour so I turned left only to realize the road was flooded and frozen.  I managed to veer around and miss the water.  I careened through the intersection I had just been in and ended up in frozen water on the other side of the road. I had to get my ice scraper from the trunk so I got out of the car and waded in the frozen water so I could get to the trunk.  After this, I just went back to school without my lunch.  I also somehow ripped my pants.  I spent recess stuck on a giant indoor swing for two people. I got very dizzy but the other person would not stop the swing to let me off and we were moving too high and too fast for me to jump.

a lot of really weird dreams about working in a children's museum as a musician, I had these Boomwacker sorts of percussive instruments and I wandered around the museum sort of making up tunes wherever I went. Also, I was sleeping on a couch at a press conference which was confusing because in the dream I was asleep on the couch but also watching myself on tv during the same event. At one point we were watching old VHS tapes and reading Far Side cartoons.

I dreamt I had one of those tall fake soda bottles people use as piggie banks but mine was full of coffee creamer but I still kept it in my bedroom and not the refrigerator.

I also dreamt I was renovating a van or mobile home or some kind of large vehicle that I was going to travel and live in. It was parked in the back of my house for the most part but it had those sliding bus doors and sometimes when I was working the doors would open and I would be in different places even though no one was driving. I was asked if the van was intended to fly and no that wasn't the plan but apparently it could beam itself places or time travel maybe?

I dreamt I was at a mall that had public showers but I didn't use them because I was looking for my lost cell phone

I dreamt that someone drove over the lawn at my mom's house, they went through the fence by the garage, down the hill, and then out the fence again at the bottom of the hill and then they drove away but we caught them because the car has a chrome decal the length of the car that said Reese's Pieces. also, dad was there and he's been dead for 10 years but in my dream, he was wearing jean shorts and we were cracking up about the whole weird situation.

I dreamt my sister was my next-door neighbor and our yards were connected so the dogs could come over but also the yard from fence to fence was covered with a canopy of umbrellas that looks like Chihuly's Persian Ceiling installation. 

I dreampt the tile wall in my shower had a horizontal crack in it that flexed in and out as if there was airflow behind the wall.  The wall stretched several times before it fell on me while I was bathing.

Last night I dreamt my hands were covered in bees

I dreamt I was in prison with the students from my school and my job inside was working at a pharmacy or hospital, we spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to steal the drugs

I dreamt it was raining inside my office job and I had to sit at my desk under a golf umbrella

I dreamt I was in a game that was a mix of Farmville and World of Warcraft and you could kill people to steal their farms. I made a tree fall on a man while he was driving his tractor. also in the dream, I looked like Tom Cruise from the movie Far and Away.

I dreamt a drunk Superman was crawling down the sidewalk to the restaurant he owned now that he was retired. Inside there was a man who wanted to kill him but of course, Superman didn't care and insisted on eating a snack while the man threatened him. Superman dug around in the cooler eating pepperoni and other things until he fell asleep. He wasn't worried bout the mad man since no one could hurt him more than he'd already hurt himself.

I had to write a fashion blog.

I dreamt I left homemade cupcakes at the supermarket in some Tupperware and when I came back no one had eaten any so I just took them home again

I dreamt I was driving with my seat fully reclined and I navigated based on what I could see from the sunroof

I dreamt I was trying to make falafel and the kitchen was full of dogs I had never met before, also I couldn't find the feta cheese. And I couldn't find a place to lock up my bike and two men were barbecuing on my lawn.

Last night I dreamt about great horn owls, taking my dog to the vet, and a house with many garages that were hidden by transforming doors.

My dreams last night involved a lot of running, stairs, lockers, lock and clocks.

I dreamt I visited a high school and for some reason, I lied to them and told them that my high school was older than I wanted to tour of their high school. They were big holes in the walls but instead of going into the classrooms they were just big open spaces like black holes.

I know you aren’t supposed to interrupt a funeral procession that’s on the road but last night I dreamt I interrupted graduation. Fortunately, no one was hurt and it turns out I know how to drive my car up steps

I dreampt I had a body suit that made me look like a strip of cooked bacon.  I just sort of wriggled around in the dream it didn't really have a point beyond bacon.

I dreampt I worked at combination post office and dryer cleaner.

I had a really dark dream about a woman looking for her husband. Everyone in the dream had older clothes from a sort of indeterminate period in the past, I think she had a small bonnet on. I feel like her husband was dead and she was using a spell to find out if he was ok and when he contacted her she was so happy because she thought maybe he was still a alive.  She opened a portal or maybe he did that part and he called to her and she cried and reached for him and only when when her arm was through did she realize it was a trick.  Whatever grabbed her arm was not only not her husband but also not even human.  She had been tricked by a devil or demon and then her whole body was pulled into hell.  A young man witnessed this whole ordeal but could not stop it and was terrified that the demon knew he was there.  The man and a friend went to a gathering but an interrogator who looked for sin was there and the young man fainted.  I remember he was quite beautiful and how fair his hair was and how dark his coat was, not black but an impossibly deep blue with details at the cuffs like a stripe and some buttons. The interrogator was not there for the young man but his terror of both the demon and possibly being tortured to reveal he was witch was too much.  I got a vibe from the dream like it was related to the movie The Scarlet Letter with Demi Moore but I haven't seen that in a long time.  It was sad how many people in the dream were miserable.

I dream a lot about buildings and especially places where I lived previous or in the dream I currently live.  I dreampt I was in a dorm or apartment building and they were adding rooms in odd places so that everyone would fit.  At woman at the end of the hall had only two walls but they were outside walls and the other walls of her dorm were made of chicken wire.  I don't know how she slept because there was a road right outside and the rights cut through the walls and of course you could hear the road noise all the time.  She had a very nice desktop computer that surely would have gotten wet whenever it rained.  She seemed very proud of these corner shelves that attached to the wall and gave her extra storage.  I liked how she had lofted her bed a bit to make more room.  Even the ceiling of her room was chicken wire and if you looked up through the mesh you could see a nest of skunks so on top of everything the room didn't smell great.  

Things I Saw In the Dark

Scattered dreams from last night included sunglasses, scaffolding, driving around car accidents and in parking garages. 

I dreampt about my family and we were all in our pjs and eating fruit late at night as if we had all just come home from work. 

I had a nightmare about a woman in a harness and she was over a bed of nails or knives and the man was raising her up and letting her fall toward the spikes over and over.  She was screaming and crying and he just kept tormenting her over and I over.  I don't know how it ended.  I saw her in an earlier dream where she seemed to be hiding but i think that was from before she was captured.  I saw her laying on her side in the fetal position amongst some wooden shelves. 

I was exploring a basement, it had two or three levels.  I started at the bottom but when I got to the top i found a topiary garden and i walked those paths for awhile.  in a corner i thought there was a pond but it was a leak and i got two people to tell them about the leak and the water seemed to come from a spigot but also the ceiling and a clock.  i was going to get a hose to siphon the water the man began to collect the buckets and take them outside through the glass door.  he and the woman talked about using this gutter grates from the basement to help channel the water and as they talked they forgot i was there event though i was the one who found the leak. 

I was jogging in the neighborhood but I got on a city bus.  I thought it would go up one stop and let me off but we drive for ages.  As I got off the bus I saw a library and remembered I was supposed to be at work at 4pm.  I didn't have my phone so I couldn't call in.  I went to a tourist information booth and used their courtesy phone.  The first time i called i saw all these names on the voicemail that were for people I didn't know.  I let the other staff member dial for me and when I got through they said I was already at work.  When I protested that I really was going ot be late they said well just don't come in then. 

I dreampt we were at a store like IKEA that also had Christmas trees.  We got a bunch of food at the buffet and we had a picnic in the dairy aisle.  We went to get a tree but when we came back someone had taken all of our food and somehow we didn't end up getting a tree.

I dreampt I was at this fitness challenge and the whole team had to finish for us to win.  I got to go first which seems crazy.  It was this giant obstacle course and you had to climb up so high it was just incredible.  From a distance it looked like a jungle gym with the rungs but when you got closer it almost seemed to be made of balloons.  It was incredibly steep and i thought the whole way was up and i fell back a lot but somehow I was able to keep climbing even though I didn't seem to be using my legs.  It was like when people climb the gym rope with just their arms, when I got to a section where the challenge changed I suddenly realized that the rest of it was really a slide and some optical illusion kept us from seeing that half the course was downhill. 

I was in Middletown with Mom and i think we were looking for a daycare center but we were driving around this really run down apartment complexes that were gated.  At some point we parked the car and just went to the beach.  As we walked over the dunes we ran into this old who was telling us all this stuff that my generation had to do to make things better and I just kept cussing at her but she wouldn't stop talking.

There was a dream about going out for dinner and it raining but I can't think of what else happened.

It was sometime in the past, maybe medieval.  There was a princess whose kingdom was being taken over.  Princess isn't totally accurate since she controlled a village and dressed much more practically.  She had been beaten and her nose was all red and her face bruised.  The villagers tried to rescue the princess by luring the soldiers into the woods with promises of sex.  That didn't work so they got a lot of liquor.  I don't know if they stored the liquor in the trees or if they harvested the liquors from way up high. The villagers had to attach all these gourds to their belts and then get all the way up in the trees to retrieve the alcohol.  It was hard to climb up but on the way down they sort of clipped to the rope and spun around and around so all the gourds flared out. This part was in slow motion. They got the soldiers good and drunk, then beat them all up.  At the end I saw the princess and her husband eating watermelon so I guess everything worked out ok.

I think this was related to a dream I had a few nights back in which I lived in the woods and was raising wolves that could climb trees.   The wolves were very naughty so a lot of the dream was just me yelling "you get down here right now."

I dreampt we had a performer visit at work but I got sick and had to go home and change clothes. When I got back to work it was night time even though I had left mid-afternoon.  I had a really hard time parking my car because all the tires were tilted outward so I couldn't  get close to the curb.

I dreampt I checked out some really titillating books from the library and they were fascinating but I was also horrified.  It was like a scary movie where I was curious but also sickened.  I wanted more books like them but I was afraid to take the books back to the library and have the staff see what i had borrowed.  Never mind that I could have just put them in the bookdrop. 

I dreampt I was going to run a race with someone and we were trying to make arrangements for where to leave our cars in the neighborhood nearby but my dog was with me and I had couldn't figure out where he should stay.  At one point I got the time of the race wrong and then later I left my dog in the car for a long time and felt terrible .  In my dream we never go the the race or at least i woke up beforehand.

I dreampt I was at a deli that was part of a restaurant that was downtown in a big city.  I was startled to see a treat I had wanted for some time and I got so excited that I cried. I paid in cash and it took a long time time because i kept finding foreign currency in coins in my purse.

I took my dog for a a walk at an apartment complex I used to live in and while we were walking i realized i had another dog.  We went home I found I had a three legged blonde/tan girl dog who was waiting at the top of the stairs for us.  Then I went to my art class but I had a really hard time because I didn't have any inspiration and we were supposed to have written a four page story ahead of time to base the visual project on but I didn't know about that part or just didn't do it.  We had to make something 3D.  Mine was going to be huge, taller than me but then i found out the due date so i changed mine to more like a shoe box.  It was supposed to have all these layer represented time and history and growth in the story.  We had to finish the work at home but i didn't have any of the supplies.  suddenly it seemed like it was time to go and we all went next store where some people and myself had to work at the coffee shop while other students got more time to work on their art. this was about the time my dog woke me up.

Last night was a lot of little bits.  I dreampt the library started to run a snow cone shop and it was a mess.  The ice maker was under the fridge and no one put water in it and the signs didn't make sense and no one had a menu.  Basically it was me not making people the drinks they wanted or handing them cups was sugar water.  

I dreampt a friend and I were refugees but in our country.  There had some a cataclysm so we couldn't just go home. I felt like we weren't that far from where we usually lived but we lived in this tiny apartment that I think was one room and a bathroom but it didn't have water or electricity.  Sometimes we got care packages from planes.  It was a strange experience because I think the apartment was from social services and i had never thought about how small the houses were but now that i was in one I didn't like it. 

I have a very common dream that repeats where I am in a school but I cannot find my classroom and the building is just enormous. At one point I looked down the stairwell and it was like the flyer throwing scene from 10 Things I Hate About You where the building just seemed to get bigger and bigger.

Dreampt I had a creek running through my yard and these giant river otters came to sunbathe on the rocks. I also dreampt we couldn't find a parking spot because all the ones available were on an incline and the parking brake was broken. Then a friend and I lived in this human sized hamster Habitrail city and we had to wear these harnesses so we could sleep in the tubes without sliding around. You could clip to the wall and work on whatever you needed.

I dreamt I hired a neighborhood boy to drive me around but one day while I was in the backseat he got out and sprayed the car with a really big water gun and I got wet. It was a little confusing since sometimes the car had windows but other times the car was a convertible with the top down. I couldn't go to work like that so I got really angry. The boy wouldn't drive me back to my house so he drove back to his house and he said his big sister was going to drive me. She was really mad at me and tried to explain that her little brother had been sick and somehow this explained his bad behavior. Then she drove me to an outdoor market and she was gong to just leave me there but she then chose to go shopping. I realized I didn't have any money or my phone. She let me use her cell phone but it was like an old Nokia and I had to type everything which seemed really hard in the dream. Also I couldn't remember anybody's phone numbers. I asked if I could call Uber and people at the shops for like you should try this new app it's just called Grr. Eventually my mom and her friend pick me up and drove me home what's weird is I spent most of the dream worried about having not walked Hubble and also that I was going to be late to work.

Dreamt I was overseas and trying to move but people kept coming over with food. When I tried to eat the desserts they just fell apart. The toilet began to overflow and the porcelain was pink. While I was in the bathroom people came over with art for me to decorate with even though I was still moving away. I could see water under the floor like I was standing on a bridge and the water was in theses gutters around the apartment as if the toilet leaked all the time. People started using my other shower because  I seemed to have three. I couldn't remember if I had my car so I kept debating if I needed a driver. I didn't have a job so I got one in this big indoor shopping center that was more like a super store with no walls then it was an actual mall. I was suppose to organize the merchandise but I kept getting in trouble. I was a stall for candles but the boss wouldn't explain things to me and I got confused. I tried to work at the spa but it was gross. I don't know what my last job was but a lady kept saying how New York was so much better.

I had this bizarre dream I was interviewing for a director position and there was going to be a library tour first and that it was a group interview. Somehow I didn't see that everyone had left and the current director said since I wasn't paying attention I couldn't take the tour and thus couldn't interview. she then told me I didn't have the right interview outfit on and that she saw me eat a poptart while waiting in the lobby. Anyone want to analyze that?

I had this bizarre dream when i renewed my license it didn't say i could try school busses and bookmobiles but then i got a job where i needed to drive those vehicles. I had to get a ride in a bookmobile to the dmv where i was going to drive the bookmobile in the parking lot to show i knew how. the dmv said i still had to pay 90$ for the update and i didn't have any cash so we drove around in the bookmobile looking for an atm.
